Έτσι τον παρουσιάζουν.

Τι σημαίνει αυτό; Σημαίνει ότι θα έχει τη δυνατότητα να μεταφέρει φυσικό αέριο από την Τουρκία στην κατεχόμενη Κύπρο και από τα κατεχόμενα στην Τουρκία.

Ακούσατε κανέναν να ασχολείται με αυτό; Κανέναν.

Κι όμως πρόκειται για πάρα πολύ σημαντική εξέλιξη.

Κλειδί είναι το «αμφίδρομος αγωγός». Ενώ παρουσιάζεται ότι γίνεται για να μεταφέρει φυσικό αέριο προς τα κατεχόμενα, μπορεί να συμβεί και το αντίθετο.

Αλλά, έχουν τα κατεχόμενα φυσικό αέριο για να στέλνουν στην Τουρκία; Να τα δούμε με τη σειρά.

Χτες γράφαμε για τους πολιτικούς μας που υποστηρίζουν ότι μπορεί να μεταφερθεί στους τουρκικούς αγωγούς το κυπριακό αέριο.

Το λένε φυσικά ως δέλεαρ για την Τουρκία για να πεισθεί να λυθεί το Κυπριακό.

Αλλά, αντί να αναπτύξουν πολιτικές, αναπτύσσουν φαντασιοπληξίες.

Λες και δεν ξέρουν ακόμα με ποιους έχουν να κάνουν.

Νομίζουν ότι η Τουρκία τους δίνει καμιά σημασία επειδή αερολογούν προς εσωτερική κατανάλωση, χωρίς να πράττουν το παραμικρό.

Προσέξτε ποια είναι η πραγματικότητα. Η Τουρκία εδώ και χρόνια εφαρμόζει σχέδια (πρακτικά, όχι αερολογίες) για να αυτονομήσει ενεργειακά την κατεχόμενη Κύπρο.

Όχι για να στηρίξει τους Τουρκοκύπριους αλλά για να βάλει κι άλλες ρίζες, πιο βαθιές, στη διχοτόμηση και στον έλεγχο του νησιού.

Πρώτα έφερε το νερό με υποθαλάσσιο αγωγό.

Γνωστό αυτό.

Μετά ξεκίνησε να δηλώνει ότι θα προχωρήσει και σε ηλεκτρική διασύνδεση με υποθαλάσσιο καλώδιο.

Το λένε και οι Τούρκοι, το λένε και οι Τουρκοκύπριοι, ξανά και ξανά.

Μάλιστα, ο Έρχιουρμαν κατηγορεί και την ΕΕ για την προώθηση της ηλεκτρικής διασύνδεσης με την Ελλάδα (την Ευρώπη, εννοείται). «Η πιο ορθή πολιτικά και οικονομικά λύση θα ήταν μια ηλεκτρική διασύνδεση που θα συνδέει την Κύπρο με την Τουρκία και την Ελλάδα», έλεγε, για παράδειγμα, στις 11/3/2026.

Γνωρίζουν, όμως, ότι η ηλεκτρική διασύνδεση Τουρκίας – κατεχομένων είναι δύσκολη, διότι χρειάζονται την έγκριση της ΕΕ. Την χρειάζονται και πιέζουν να την πάρουν, διότι η Τουρκία είναι ήδη συνδεδεμένη με το ευρωπαϊκό δίκτυο και θα έχει συνέπειες αν κάνει παρανομία.

Το έχουν, όμως, ως προοπτική.

Προς το παρόν αναβαθμίζουν τον ηλεκτροπαραγωγό σταθμό στον Άγιο Γεώργιο, στην Κερύνεια, ώστε να μην χρειάζονται την ΑΗΚ από την οποία παίρνουν ηλεκτρισμό σε ώρες αιχμής.

Το επόμενο βήμα για την ενεργειακή αυτονομία των κατεχομένων είναι ο αγωγός του φυσικού αερίου για ηλεκτροπαραγωγή.

Χτες, η τουρκική εφημερίδα Σαμπάχ, έγραφε ότι ξεκίνησαν οι εργασίες για την κατασκευή.

Αποκάλυψε μάλιστα ότι η ετήσια δυναμικότητά του θα φτάνει τα 10 δισεκατομμύρια κυβικά μέτρα φυσικού αερίου.

Τι σημαίνει αυτό.

Για να καταλάβουμε να σημειώσω μόνο ότι αν ερχόταν φυσικό αέριο στο Βασιλικό για την ηλεκτροπαραγωγή της ΑΗΚ έχει υπολογιστεί ότι οι ανάγκες είναι για 0,7 δισεκατομμύρια κυβικά μέτρα ετησίως.

Δηλαδή, οι Τούρκοι κάνουν αγωγό με δυνατότητες μεταφοράς αερίου, 13 – 14 φορές μεγαλύτερες από το αέριο που χρειάζεται σήμερα η Κύπρος.

Το κάνει φυσικά με προοπτική να μεταφέρει στο μέλλον και το φυσικό αέριο της κυπριακής ΑΟΖ στην Τουρκία.

Όταν θα τον κατασκευάσει θα πει στους Ευρωπαίους: τι πελλάρες αφήνετε τους Ελληνοκύπριους και κάνουν; Θα κατασκευάσουν EastMed και κουραφέξαλα! Αφού έχουμε έτοιμο τον αγωγό να μεταφέρει το αέριο στην Τουρκία και από εκεί στην Ευρώπη! Κι εμείς θα βλέπουμε από μακριά τις εξελίξεις και θα μιλούμε για την επανένωση.

Διότι, εδώ και χρόνια ακούμε αερολογίες και πράξεις τίποτα.

Για παράδειγμα το φυσικό αέριο από το Αφροδίτη θα μπορούσε να ήταν ήδη στο Βασιλικό αν κατασκευαζόταν ένας αγωγός.

Αλλά, όχι μόνο αγωγός δεν κατασκευάστηκε αλλά ούτε το τερματικό για να έρχεται αέριο (ξένο, όχι το δικό μας) με πλοία.

Και από το Αφροδίτη θα πάει τελικά στην Αίγυπτο.

Στο τέλος, λοιπόν, θα έχουν τα κατεχόμενα πάμφθηνο ηλεκτρισμό και θα πουλούν και στις ελεύθερες περιοχές. Όχι; Αυτό θα γίνει αν συνεχίσουμε όπως πάμε. What does this mean? It means that it will have the ability to transport natural gas from Turkey to occupied Cyprus and from the occupied territories to Turkey.

Have you heard anyone talking about this? No one.

And yet this is a very important development.

The key is the “bidirectional pipeline”. While it is presented that it is being done to transport natural gas to the occupied territories, the opposite could also happen.

But do the occupied territories have natural gas to send to Turkey? Let's look at them in order.

Yesterday we wrote about our politicians who claim that Cypriot gas can be transported to Turkish pipelines.

They say it, of course, as a lure for Turkey to convince it to solve the Cyprus problem.

But, instead of developing policies, they develop fantasies.

It's as if they don't know yet who they are dealing with.

They think that Turkey doesn't care about them because they are airing out for internal consumption, without doing the slightest thing.

Pay attention to what the reality is. Turkey has been implementing plans (in practice, not airing out) for years to make occupied Cyprus energy independent.

Not to support the Turkish Cypriots but to put other, deeper roots in the division and control of the island.

First it brought the water with an underwater pipeline.

This is well known.

Then it started declaring that it would also proceed with an electrical interconnection with an underwater cable. The Turks say it too, the Turkish Cypriots say it too, again and again.

In fact, Erhürman also accuses the EU of promoting the electrical interconnection with Greece (Europe, of course). “The most politically and economically sound solution would be an electrical interconnection that would connect Cyprus with Turkey and Greece,” he said, for example, on 11/3/2026.

However, they know that the electrical interconnection between Turkey and the occupied territories is difficult, because they need the approval of the EU. They need it and they are pushing to get it, because Turkey is already connected to the European network and there will be consequences if it does something illegal.

However, they have it as a perspective.

For now, they are upgrading the power plant in Agios Georgios, in Kyrenia, so that they do not need the EAC from which they get electricity during peak hours.

The next step for the energy autonomy of the occupied territories is the natural gas pipeline for electricity generation.

Yesterday, the Turkish newspaper Sabah wrote that construction work has begun.

It even revealed that its annual capacity will reach 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

What does this mean? To understand, let me just note that if natural gas were to come to Vasiliko for the EAC's electricity generation, it has been calculated that the needs are for 0.7 billion cubic meters per year.

In other words, the Turks are building a pipeline with gas transport capabilities, 13-14 times greater than the gas that Cyprus needs today.

Of course, they are doing this with the prospect of also transporting the natural gas of the Cypriot EEZ to Turkey in the future.

When they build it, they will say to the Europeans: what the hell are you leaving the Greek Cypriots to do? They will build EastMed and they will be tired! After all, we have the pipeline ready to transport the gas to Turkey and from there to Europe! And we will watch the developments from afar and talk about reunification.

Because, for years we have been hearing empty words and empty deeds.

For example, the natural gas from Aphrodite could already be in Vasiliko if a pipeline were built.

But, not only was the pipeline not built, but neither was the terminal for gas (foreign, not ours) to come by ship.

And from Aphrodite it will eventually go to Egypt.

In the end, then, the occupied territories will have super-cheap electricity and they will also sell to the free areas. No? This will happen if we continue as we are. The Turks are implementing plans and instead of projects that face risks (at least the visible ones), we are telling each other jokes and waiting for some miracle that will make the beast cooperate with its prey.
